Claudia L. McKoin Public Service Leadership Training Academy

The Federal City Alumnae Chapter (FCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is pleased to announce the continuation of the Claudia L. McKoin Public Service Leadership Training Academy (CLM Academy). The mission of the CLM Academy is to expand the number of women of color involved in public policy development by increasing the number of women running and elected into public office.

Building off the success of previous years, the academy will provide participants with a robust and comprehensive training in the fundamentals of developing and running a campaign for public office. The CLM Academy consists of five workshop sessions from September to January The themes of the five sessions are:

  1. Leadership and the Fundamentals of Running for Elected Office
  2. Developing the Candidate
  3. Campaign Fundraising and Finance
  4. Campaign Management
  5. Effective Communications

In addition to the formal programmatic sessions, participants will have the opportunity to build and expand their networks through special events coordinated by partners of the CLM Academy.

By the conclusion of the program, the goal is to develop a cohort of politically active women who use the skills and tools gained through the program to run for office and be an effective advocate for their communities.
