Political Awareness & Involvement

FCAC operates within a strict, non-partisan policy and does not endorse any political candidates. It is vital, however, to keep our members and the community abreast of current events affecting our society on local, state, and national levels to ensure that we are positioned and prepared to execute appropriate actions on important issues, particularly those that have far reaching impacts. Programming in this area has included support for the Sorority’s National Initiative – Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital for updates to the national social action agenda. Additionally, Federal City Alumnae Chapter, in conjunction with Washington DC Alumnae Chapter, has implemented Delta Day at the DC Council so that chapter members can discuss the major issues that affect District residents with local officials. Federal City has also implemented letter writing campaigns, workshops and training for those interested in running for office, candidate forums, and educational site visits to the DC Council and the DC Courts for elementary aged youth.
